UPDATE- I am currently looking for individuals and/or businesses who would be interested in taking part in The Quarantine Project. I am looking to take portraits of folks outside their homes or their businesses. These portraits would be taken by me on the sidewalk, street, or at the end of your driveway in accordance with social distancing guidelines. I am wanting to capture how others are dealing with the current crisis in, and around, Houston.
GraveTexan originated as the online persona of Lindsay Lee Boyd before evolving into a creative endeavor encompassing photography, film making, story telling, and capturing the other worldly that is Texas.
“Have you ever wondered about the sounds heard only on the Texas winds? Eerie yips and yowls that float past an open window at 3am. The metallic buzz of cicadas never seen, swelling and crashing, acting almost as a warning of some otherworldly happening.
Have you ever found yourself on a never ending highway, stretching forever and beyond as you race along, seemingly never reaching your destination? And didn’t you pass that diner and that billboard an hour ago? The same signs aglow but a little dingier each time. A little more worn and weathered. But the waitresses look familiar at each stop, with their name tags that read “Dot” and their raspy voices thick with years of cigarette smoke. You feel as if you’ve been here before…
They always warn you not to stop and pick the bluebonnets that litter the sides of the road in the spring, no matter how tempting.
And every visit ends with the same saying:
Y’all come back now, ya hear?”
